Home A 1ª Jornada Requirements
A 1ª Jornada is a game developed for DOS real mode (that one that Bill Gates said that 640 kb of RAM memory should be enough for any program).

Unfortunately, that old architecture sometimes makes the game not working well on more recent computers or Windows. One frequent problem is that the sound doesn’t work.

Machine
The game runs on any 286 machine or superior. Probably it’ll get too slow on a 286 or 386, so you better play it on a 486 or superior? Is your machine better than a 486?

Hard disk
The game takes only 5.5 Mb of hard disk.

Memory
The game requires 2 Mb of XMS memory. On old times, you needed to install a driver called HIMEM.SYS to make XMS memory available for other programs. Today Windows makes things easy and provides that memory automatically.
However, it may happen that Windows doesn’t adjust the memory correctly and the game may crash sometimes (for example, when fighting with an enemy). To solve that, click with the right button over the game’s shortcut, you’ll see a menu, select “Properties”. On option “Memory”, make all memory types “automatic”.

Sound
The game was developed to play music and sound in soundboards that are compatible with the SoundBlaster model
However, as explained earlier, it may happen that, even if you have the ideal equipment, no sound will play even so. That more usual on recent computers or soundboards.

Graphics
The graphic resolution is also low, 320x200 and 256 colours. However, because the game runs on DOS mode, you Windows screen won’t be harmed.
